What if you knew what your project would be like before you had committed to building it? What if your users – whether that be staff in a commercial environment, students in a University residence, the congregation in a church or simply other family members in a domestic project – had experienced the new building before one brick was laid on another? Wouldn’t that avoid all sorts of misunderstandings and late (for which read expensive) changes?
The sad fact is that most clients struggle to read 2 dimensional drawings, yet architects traditionally have expected clients to commit to spend large sums of money on the basis of this incomplete understanding. But it doesn’t have to be like this – there is a way of bridging this communication gap, and Archangel was created to address precisely this need.
Two Buildings for the Price of One!
Archangel’s method gives you two buildings for the price of one. How good is that? First we create a virtual building, to ensure everyone involved understands the proposal, and only then go on to construct the real building. Integral to our design process is the virtual model of the building from which everything else is drawn – planning drawings, Building Regulations information, walkthroughs is built around BIM or Building Information Modelling.But, you might say that almost any architect will give me a few perspectives, so what is the big deal? It is true that many practices are slowly improving the quality of the information they provide to clients; the same is true with the short movie that starts each screening of Grand Designs. But there are some big differences. Most of this type of material is created late in the process after most of the design decisions are made – this is because in the traditional process it is an add-on service (often with a heavy price-tag). With Archangel the project is the model, essentially giving you a virtual prototype of your future bricks and mortar building. The presentation material empowers you to take your proper role in creating the best possible building to meet your needs.
